Powering the Future of Process Water

To relocate treated process water discharge 10 kilometres from the mill, GF Infrawise designed a robust offshore pipeline solution built for reliable operation and lasting performance.

When Nordic Paper in Bäckhammar, Sweden needed to relocate its discharge point for treated process water approximately 10 kilometres from the mill and around 3 kilometres offshore into the receiving water body, stringent requirements were placed on technology, performance, and operational reliability.

Powering the Future of Process Water

When Nordic Paper in Bäckhammar, Sweden needed to relocate its discharge point for treated process water approximately 10 kilometres from the mill and around 3 kilometres offshore into the receiving water body, stringent requirements were placed on technology, performance, and operational reliability.

Through GF Infrawise specialist expertise in hydraulic design, submerged pipelines, and complex infrastructure, a tailor-made solution was developed that combines long service life, reliable operation, and proven functionality.

From Design to Functional Responsibility

GF Infrawise assumed full responsibility for its scope of supply within the project, from advanced hydraulic design and dimensioning to delivery and performance responsibility for the complete submerged pipeline system.

Challenges Addressed

  • Relocation of the discharge point approximately 10 km from the industrial site

  • Complex hydraulic conditions with demanding flow optimization requirements

  • Need for a long-term solution with minimal maintenance requirements

  • Safe installation and operation under challeging conditions

Delivered Solution

The completed solution comprises a total of 12 kilometres of pressure pipelines and several specially adapted components to ensure safe and efficient operation.

By combining robust PE piping systems with advanced hydraulic expertise, GF Infrawise delivered a solution designed to meet future requirements.

Customer Benefits at a Glance

  • Robust and reliable water management

  • Long service life and low maintenance costs

  • High operational reliability and dependable performance

  • Optimized hydraulic efficiency
